For example, if you have a 3 1/2 inch diskette drive and a CD-ROM drive,
click on those two icons. Clicking on these icons places identical icons on
your permanent KDE Desktop. From these icons, you can access those
devices at any time.

Choose Next to continue.
A window showing a printer icon appears.

If you have a printer connected to your computer, click on the printer
icon.
Clicking on this icon places a copy of the icon on your KDE Desktop
where you can use it to access your printer.

Choose Next to continue.
A window showing several Web site links appears.

Click on any of the Web site links that you want to have easily accessi-
ble on your KDE Desktop.
The icons available include:

The KDE home page, www.kde.org, where you can learn about recent
development in KDE and access additional KDE applications.
•
The KDE FTP site, ftp.kde.org, from which you can download additional
KDE applications or updates.
•
The KDE Developer’s site, developer.kde.org, where you can learn about
participating in the development of KDE or KDE applications.
•
The Caldera Systems Home page, www.calderasystems.com, where you
can review the latest Linux developments, download system updates and
look for technical support on the Caldera Systems Knowledge Base.
8.
Choose OK to finish the configuration of KDE and close this window.
Exploring the Desktop
Before you start configuring your Desktop to fit your personal preferences, you
need to know about the different parts of the Desktop. These are shown in Figure
38 and described here:
